Sosúa is the town most foreign buyers on the north coast end up choosing, and not by accident. It sits twenty minutes from Puerto Plata's international airport, it has the calmest swimming bay on this stretch of coast, and it has had an international community since the 1940s, so the services a newcomer needs already exist: English-speaking doctors, notaries, hardware stores that stock what a villa needs, and supermarkets with the brands you recognise.
